Hi, I’m Ashley.

Welcome to Major Fixer, an old-school blog where I write about restoring my 122-year-old house — and myself.

This is a space to talk about the realities of home renovation when you aren’t Pinterest perfect or a bazillionaire, the process of putting down roots in my new hometown of Portland, Oregon, and what it’s like to be a 39-year-old woman who’s falling in love with many parts of herself and her life for the very first time.

In a former life, I was a mom blogger and freelance journalist. I’ve written and published thousands of articles online. Some of you might recognize me from publications like Scary Mommy, Romper, and Cosmopolitan. Now, I mostly work behind the scenes in editing and content marketing, though I do still take on the occasional freelance writing project.

Outside of this space, you can find me spending time with my cute husband and kids, begging for attention from our four cats, lifting weights, reading books, playing video games, and making any excuse to be outside enjoying this gorgeous state where I live.
